When Posters Can Help - By: Kaitlyn Miller
The trickiest and most frequent question encountered when putting together plans for poster marketing is that of timing. Posters are a great advertising tool and can be immensely effective, but picking the right timing for your campaign is just as important as picking the right imagery or headline. With that in mind let’s take a look at some of the times you should consider new poster printing. Entering the Market - This one’s a bit of a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how often it is neglected. Whether you’re opening up a new business or just opening a new store in an existing chain, it’s more important than ever to make consumers aware of your business. All of your marketing efforts should be focused on establishing your name and posters should be at the vanguard of your attack. Since posters don’t rely on extensive ad copy and detailed sales pitches, you are able to create the sort of curiosity that compels people to stop by and see what you are all about. Launching a New Product - When adding a new product or product line to your existing inventory, its important to get the word out. Unless the new product is tied to an already existing and well established brand name or product, you’re likely to encounter consumer resistance. A little color poster printing can go a long way towards enticing people out of their entrenched buying habits and convince them that they need to try the latest big thing. Repositioning Your Business - There’s probably no time that is more crucial to a company than when it’s trying to recreate it’s brand image or establish a new market niche. Again, poster should be one facet of a larger marketing push in this case, but it’s an important part. Posters provide enough space for a large, eye catching image and imagery is your primary tool for changing consumers already established notions of your business. Its also beneficial that your company name won’t be the first thing the viewer sees. This allows your to create an impression with your headline and image before your company name triggers old mental associations that might hinder your re-branding efforts. If you aren’t putting careful consideration into the timing of your poster campaign, you are effectively limiting your potential effectiveness. Posters are a very direct form of print advertising that are highly dependant on timing and purpose. Used effectively, though, they can be the single best attention grabber in your marketing arsenal.
